Words come from ready-made vocabulary packages (by level or topic), from stories, from other apps through the share menu – or you type them in yourself. The app suggests the translation, word class, gender and forms.
Flashcards, multiple choice, typing, speaking, matching, dictation and whole sentences: practice switches between the exercises you have chosen and asks each direction of a word separately.
With the Leitner system a word you answer correctly comes back after a few days, a wrong one goes straight back to the start. So you practice what has not sunk in yet.
Vocabulary Collector is not a deck to swipe through: it knows the grammar of the languages you learn.
For German, Greek and English there are dictionary packs with translations, word class, gender and over 3.5 million word forms. Download once, then everything works without a connection. Spanish and French are in preparation.
Tables show all cases, tenses, persons and degrees of comparison of a word. If you want to be exact, you practice the forms too: “das Haus → die Häuser” or “αναφέρω → ich berichte”.
Word lists by level (A1) or topic, with example sentence and forms. A word enters your vocabulary when you turn its card – nothing gets dumped on you that you did not want.
Have an AI program of your choice write a story, or read reviewed story packs. Sentence by sentence, with translation, read-aloud and a word list to take over.
The app reads words and sentences aloud, with the voice you choose per language. In practice you speak your answers, or you write after dictation, a word or a whole sentence.
A word you select in another app and send to Vocabulary Collector through the share menu opens “New word” – with suggestions before you have even remembered it.
You decide how much grammar the app shows: just words and sentences with their translation – or everything it can do. Nothing is lost when you switch.
Vocabulary, progress, stories and settings sync through your iCloud account. The data belongs to you – we do not receive it.
